Argentina, Estancia Huechahue
"I did have an amazing time in Argentina, I really enjoyed the riding at Huechahue, the horses were fantastic and the whole experience was great. Jane and the team looked after me very well. I would definitely return!"
MT (Suffolk)
"We had a superb time - Jane was great company as were the other two members of our group. The Huechahue horses are immaculate; riding gaucho style is definitely different and takes a bit of time to get used to !. Altogether a fantastic trip and one we would warmly recommend."
Mr & Mrs P S (Hants)
"We had the most magic time - superb in every way - Jane Williams is quite amazing. We were overwhelmed with hospitality, generosity, care and attention. A holiday of a lifetime with so many special memories"
HG (Kent)
"A great holiday with a good balance between enjoyable riding and comfortable conditions at the estancia. Jane caters for all levels of rider and whilst I consider myself a relative novice I coped with some sections which were both fast and challenging even to the more experienced riders. Jane’s staff both on the estancia and the ride are also friendly and take excellent care of riders"
BH
"Jane managed to welcome us into the home and family and made everyone feel comfortable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Huechahue to anyone who can ride and I‘d like to go back"
TA
"The horses were excellent and very well looked after ...the hospitality was also excellent"
HW
"...The holiday was so relaxing as from the moment of arrival at the airport you were entirely looked after. The Estancia had a genuine working and homely feel – not overly formal or touristy. I could have stayed all summer!"
NL
"This was good fast riding, great fun! And some deer stalking thrown in for good measure. Jane and her family made us very comfortable. Another great holiday. Thanks"

Argentina to Chile - Ride Across the Andes
There were many highlights - the quality of the horses was great as that was one of the things that I was worried about but they were excellent. The food was amazing and the service went way beyond what we could have expected. The scenery was spectacular (it helped that we had excellent weather also). The one bonus that we received was that two of our guide/gauchos were very musical and they entertained us at night. That was very special and I recognize that this was something that was just an extra.
Jane is an absolutely amazing hostess and her multi talents were very much appreciated. She was very organized and went over and above to make sure that everybody’s needs were taken care of and individual concerns addressed.
I absolutely loved the trip and am very glad that we did it."
JC (Canada)
"Just completed an amazing ride over the Andes. Met and exceeded all expectations ...great horses, vistas and people. Could not have been better"
LD (Canada)
"Every part of the trip was fantastic, the best holiday I’ve ever had. I didn’t want to come home".
JC (Worcs)
“It was all fantastic. The horses were wonderful and the scenery breathtaking. Diego is an exceptional guide - infinitely patient with riders and gentle with horses - a perfect combination. Jane runs a highly professional operation with equal care and concern for people and horses. The tents and sleeping bags were fantastic; the food superb (so good to have so much fresh fruit and salads) and the whole atmosphere was thoroughly enjoyable. One of the best riding holidays I have been on (and this was my 21st !!)”
KS (Devon)
“This is an extremely well run ride with excellent back ups”
PS (New Zealand)
‘’It was quite a change riding the Chilean ponies, but I understand we couldn’t take our lovely Argentinian horses with us and that the ponies handled the terrain more easily. I think I overlooked this difference in the information you provided.
The staff on the ride (both the riding staff and the support staff) were absolutely terrific. Pedro and his gang in Argentina were great fun and really looked after us. Diego and Patrick on the ride were unfailingly patient and good humoured. Loth and Pamela in Chile were superb hosts. It was great.
Highlights of the trip: racing along the sandy track when my horse won. My horse in Argentina was awesome! The food was great considering we were camping and the surprise night at the farmhouse with hot showers was great‘’.
JM (New Zealand)
Got back last Thursday and I just want to say a big thank you I had the most amazing time. There was a great bunch of people on the ride , the
horses were fantastic and the food was beyond expectation. Attention to detail was amazing like having hot water bottles for our sleeping bags on our first camping night - unbelievable. I was looking at the dates for the across the continent ride but unfortunately would not be able to get the time off from work - oh well next time. Jane is a really amazing women and very inspiring. Thank you again"
GC (Shropshire)
I have posted you my feedback on the ride which….was quite magical - not much to add except that all in all I think this is the best trip I have ever done. Thank you (Kate) very much for all the hard work you put into arranging the holiday - all the arrangements went like clockwork so I had nothing to think about.
PC (London)
"Got back from Argentina yesterday and wanted to say what a fantastic holiday we had. Right from the start when we booked it to getting off the plane home, the organisation has been excellent. The holiday was superb with great rides, lovely people and great planning - to have loos in the middle of nowhere was a real experience!! The thoughtfulness of our hosts never ceased to amaze us. The decorated table, even at lunchtime, was a lovely touch. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ride World Wide to anyone who wanted to go on one of these hols"
JR(Rochdale)
"I had an awesome holiday the horses and the food was just fantastic (even put on weight). Jane and everyone involved were just great and our guide Juan was the best!!! loved every moment and made some great friends didn't want to come home! Thanks for all your help and the best holiday ever".
LM (Marlborough) 22/03/09
"..exceeded (ride description). Nothing was too much trouble from our hosts on both sides of the border. Thanks to Kate for helping me to decide on the right trip. I’m so glad I picked this one".
VS (Bedfordshire)
".. had a fabulous time, people, horses, accommodation all made the trip brilliant, don’t change anything"
ND (W. Sussex)
"I have waited several years for the dates of this ride to fit in with work - and it certainly didn't disappoint. From both the stunning open spaces of Argentina to the lush green of Chile, and the hospitality of Jane and the Huechahue team to the cheer, enthusiasm and friendliness of Loth and Pamela in Chile – all topped off with super forward going horses, well equipped and situated camps, good food and the added bonus of beautiful weather. I would do it all again in an instant!"
EH, (Loughborough)
"Each answer has been carefully considered and is not just a flush of over enthusiasm. We’ve had a fabulous trip with a very exceptional lady in an idyllic region. The staff at the Estancia were warm, kind and friendly at all times. Sleeping on a grassy hillside between two ancient Chile Pines, overlooking the lake and the snow capped peak of Lanin was an experience I shall never forget. Does it get any better than this? I don’t know!"
M & JT
"It was a fabulous trip. I thoroughly enjoyed the contrast between Argentina and Chile. Jane is a brilliant hostess on the Argentinean side. I would definitely recommend this trip"
JGW
"I really enjoyed all aspects of this ride and would go back (money, time and job permitting) in a heartbeat. It is worth making clear to people that it is a hard ride – fast up and down slopes etc"
A & RC
"We've had a fantastic holiday – so thank you – both aspects of the holiday were exceedingly different. Argentina, because of the heat, causes for slowing effect known as "siesta"! Whereas Chile. Green, lush & wet, meant for "rapid" action! - We loved both equally. We loved our time in both countries, the guides were equally good in different ways and interesting personalities! But with the same aims, that they both achieved, for us to enjoy the experience of riding across the Andes. We also had a great group of people, we enjoyed sharing this once in a lifetime experience"
J & AS
"What can I say? An amazing holiday, quite the best and I am knackered! Wonderful hospitality and friendliness from both sides, lovely very hard working horses and a great group of people to ride with. Argentina felt like a real holiday, very laid back, lazy siestas, late starts and then we met Rudolpho, effervescent Jack Russell who soon licked us into shape! ...The views were stupendous with a great variety of terrain’’ – thank you so much"
HS
"...We had fantastic weather and really enjoyed the ride. The horses were wonderful and the local people looked after us wonderfully - really stretching themselves and making every effort to make the ride as good as possible. My only concern was that if it had rained (which it can do, especially in Chile) we would have been very uncomfortable ...take really good wet weather gear"
SW-T
"I don’t think any of us appreciated quite how filthy our bodies and clothes would be and that the only water to wash in was the gin clear and icy cold water of the rivers. Having said that it was just part of the holiday and something to boast about when we got home. My children are really proud of me…I hated my first saddle, felt uncomfortable and unsafe, next I had a wonderful different one - the person who had mine, loved it!"
JW
"Overall this was an excellent trip in all respects. Estancia Huechahue is particularly outstanding. I would strongly recommend this holiday to others"
LR
Argentina, Estancia Los Potreros
"I had a blast at Los Pots. Great place and great people but not the usual riding holiday where I lose weight and go camping etc but one where I had to take a firm hold on the dietary intake and I slept in great comfort every night!"
HB (New Zealand)
“The hosting was exceptional including the quality of good and generosity of meals and drink. The horses are incredible and the setting is stunning.” JD (London)
"The questionnaire doesn't really give us the opportunity to comment on how utterly charmed we all were by the sheer rustic quality of a life that on the face has resisted the effects of time and can continue to do so. Our hosts and their exceptional team of locals and imports totally integrated us into the experience and I for one am the better for it. We missed the place the moment we left it and whilst our next stop was more luxurious (La Bamba) it lacked all of the qualities that we had just experienced. Fabulous riding, dining, relaxing fun and unbelievable hosts with great skill, care and attention. We parted as great friend and as real lovers of the country. Look forward to returning as soon as my body will allow!" DS (Northants)
“All the horses were amazing!! Beautiful country, amazing views. Food really varied and fab! Very generous on alcohol! Louisa is very fond of the horses and their welfare / well being, which was lovely to see. Every ride was different! Definitely going back!” AS (Northants)
"Just a note to say that Protreros was amazing ! Totally exceeded expectations on every level. Thank you"
JS (London)
“Highlight of the trip: Discovering Peruvian Paso horses and playing polo for the first time.”
IR (USA)
"Everything just perfect. THANK YOU FOR A MOST FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! 5 star accommodation, friendly and generous hospitality, wonderful well mannered horses, kind and helpful guides, spectacular scenery. I loved every single moment. Thank you to team ‘Ride World Wide’ a really wonderful trip. Hope there will be another time!!"
JB (Leics)
.. I had a truly wonderful 10 days at Los Potreros. It was exactly the right place for me
SP (Leeds)
It was a fabulous holiday - an unusual combination of ‘horsey’ and service / being looked after. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would certainly recommend it to others.
SB (London)
"Kevin and Louisa were fantastic hosts. The food accommodation, horses, scenery and atmosphere was wonderful – can’t wait to come again!"
ST (Bucks)
"Kevin and Louisa were fantastic hosts. The food, accommodation, horses, scenery and atmosphere were wonderful - can't wait to come again!
ST (Buckinghamshre)
"All in all we had a super time. We could not have been better looked after. The hospitality was outstanding! I would certainly recommend it to friends. We would definitely go back."
DWJ
"I am not a great rider and I loved it. Learning to play polo was one of the absolute highlights, along with the overnight ride and camp... overall this was a superb holiday, surpassing my expectations, that I would thoroughly recommend to all"
ZS
"...Finally we think you should make more of the accommodation and food and wine at the Estancia – as it was superb. We had a GREAT holiday and Kevin Begg was wonderful and we would recommend anyone to take the trip. Many, many thanks"
D & RH
"The Begg family hospitality was second to none. Everything about the place was PERFECT. It is extremely well run."
SM
"Cannot think of anything that would improve the ride – and those ‘regulars’ who were returning to Los Potreros from North America considered it perhaps the best riding holiday experience in South America (one couple from N. America had their own ranch back home and still visited Los Potreros for the excellent riding.) Thank you for your considerate and efficient help prior to departure"
GR & AR
"...The pace is governed by the going, which is undulating and stony in places. However high points give fabulous views and low areas, rivers and picnic areas... I was not there at the dates to spend time on a trail ride / away overnight... but returning each evening to an evening meal and comfort was also excellent. I was able to ride a selection of each type of horse at Los Potreros which was a wonderful experience. Like the postcard says “Food, Weather and People Fantastic – wish you were here"

Argentina, Estancia La Rosita & Gaucho Rides
"I am in heaven! I loved Estancia la Rosita SO SO SO MUCH. Wow.
My dreams came true, and I loved my 5 days at the estancia.
Thank you so so much for your recommendation, and helping me through the entire booking process and answering all of my questions, and for your patience while I dealt with my finances and travel schedule.
This was without a doubt a trip of a lifetime. Fernando, Willy, Mariano, Martine, Nicolas, Lisandro, Corcha, and everyone at Estancia la Rosita made my horse riding dreams come true, and I had such a magical time. I hope to be back soon". AK (Canada)
"What an amazing experience. Words cannot describe. We had a truly fabulous time. Fernando, Willy and the team couldn't do enough for us. They completely dedicated their time to us for the whole 8 days. The riding was second to none, the ponies safe, kind and matched to our individual ability. Plenty of canters and gallops, lots of real cattle work - herding, driving, branding, tagging. Other riding for those less interested in cattle work. The food great and plentiful and hospitality superb. The environment stunning, we saw owls, frogs in abundance and even an alligator. The gauchos were fun, vigilant, accommodating and looked after us so well. We played polo, went swimming with the horses, rode the forest, many acres of grassland and even rode to town and the bar! Were treated to a fish lunch by the river and experienced paleteada as well as a tango lesson. A truly authentic experience which I wouldn't fail to repeat and recommend. Thank you so much to all at Estancia la Rosita" JH (Essex)
“Thanks Rosie great trip and thanks for checking in on us with Fernando - good service. Fernando was an excellent host and very good with my 14 year old son. We both very much enjoyed the trip.” TH (London)
“We had a great holiday, my first riding holiday like this so nothing to compare to but feel that Fernando and his family and staff really made it special - they couldn’t have done more to ensure we were having a great time.” PC (Hampshire)
“It was absolutely incredible! Fernando is a legend and made the holiday such fun and well as answering our endless questions about the estancia, horses and cattle!” SG (Dorset)
“It was better than I expected!” CS (Yorkshire)
“Not a dull moment. The warm reception and attention to detail to make sure everybody was enjoying the holiday. It was perfect! It was my first riding holiday and I enjoyed every moment. I can’t wait until the next one.” BT (Yorkshire)
“A super trip to an Estancia run by a very friendly family who could not do enough to make your stay there memorable and comfortable.” SM (Yorkshire)
“Hard to improve what is exceptional.” PH (Yorkshire)
“Highlights of the trip? Everything. The Estancia, the horses and the whole riding experience.” JC (Yorkshire)
“Each day was amazing, highlights could be plying “umbopa”, but realistically beautiful sunsets with great company!” BDT (Yorkshire)
“The staff at La Rosita and the effort they went to on my birthday was touching. The polo match was funny as was the whole trip. Fernando was so much fun. The whole experience was great - I loved it - very authentic and true. Rosie was great on the lead up." KD (Suffolk)
“Highlights - Getting the hang of western style thanks to helpful tips from Fernando and excellence & choice of horses. The profusion of birdlife quite unafraid of humankind. Perfect timing of the return at sunset on the long last day. The beauty & abundance of the bird and reed filled lagoons were understated.”
WMO (Warwickshire)
" Highlights of the trip - Being able to immerse into the gauchos’ world for eg treating cattle for tick disease, worms and also tagging their ears. Endless cantering through amazing countryside on horses that were totally bomb proof. Being away from all things commercial. The stars and the fire flies. The holiday exceeded all expectations, was great fun and relaxing and I want to go back! The holiday had the perfect balance of riding and downtime. Being only two of us it meant that Fernando could tailor make our activities. The information that you supplied and all the help that you gave prior to the trip was really useful – from the moment I left the UK everything went very smoothly so I would like to thank you for your organisation and for giving me such a wonderful and memorable holiday". DC (London)
"We absolutely LOVED our ride with Fernando from La Rosita, the kindness, the fun, the beauty and the horses, Where oh where do I begin. As for the fishing it was a triumph".
FG (Gloucestershire)
"Thank you for your email. I must say that I think this must rank as one your top trips - I had the most fabulous time.
It started rather well with the charming management at the Alvear Palace in BA upgrading my single room to a delightful suite. They can do no wrong.
I dined splendidly on the menu degustation (with pared Argentine wines) at the hotel's celebrated La Bourgogne restaurant, where the sommelier generously kept refilling my glasses - to the extent that I enjoyed a rather quiet morning the next day (I had forgotten that the Argentine reds are 14% proof!) before setting off to explore La Recoleta Cemetery.
Anyhow, on to the ride.
The country we rode over is just magnificent in its grandeur and sweep, big skies and distant horizons. Excellent, responsive horses and so easy to ride (for an amateur at least like me). The bird and other wildlife was remarkable as much as for its abundance and its exoticism. I loved the faded yesteryear elegance of the estancias, the charming if slightly eccentric hosts. I caught a piranha in my pathetic attempt at fishing - Fiona and Anthony were somewhat more successful, catching a most magnificent Dorada which we ate for dinner. Augustus took us on a boat trip up the river where we waded the sand bars and then visited his aunt's house, built by an Englishman in the 1880s, and where he spent a lot of his childhood. What a lovely gracious man.
Other highlights include trying to out-gallop an approaching storm with incipient fork lightning - we ended up sheltering at a farmstead, drinking mate and eating just -cooked (on an open fire) flat bread with the kind farmer and his wife.
I think the main reason why the trip was so wonderful though is because of the utterly lovely Fernando and his mischievous gauchos. We just seemed to laugh and have fun together, whether playing polo, doing the ranching work, playing silly games on horseback and generally teasing each other.
The last evening whilst waiting for the return of the fishermen, Fernando took me out alone for a ride at dusk. We cantered in the fading light and then watered our horses at the edge of a lagoon, the gleaming disk of the full moon reflected in the water. I shall remember it all my life.
So, thank you for organising such a splendid trip - one I would definitely do again".
PC (London)
"La Rosita is unique . It provides a wonderful insight into the world of a working estancia in Argentina the like of which I have not experienced before. I spent 10 days working on the farm. Each day was full of little surprises. I could not ask for better hospitality."
NC (Jersey)
Estancia La Rosita
"I don't know how anyone could not enjoy themselves here"
PE (Sheffield)
"Just a few words to say that La Rosita is fabulous; great people, great horses and great time. Our trip was a full success. Personally, I do hope to go there again".
FP (France)
What a super holiday throughout! Very pleased to say your suggestions were just perfect and the arrangements/collections etc were all spot on.
Fernando/La Rosita - Everything we were looking for to expand on previous visits. Fernando could not have done more to offer every chance to 'experience' the lifestyle and have lots of fun. He is so full of enthusiasm, his family warm and relaxed and the gauchos love to show off! All is possible and nothing too much trouble, a wonderful host.
SH (Hampshire)
Fernando and *all* his family and all the gauchos were the perfect hosts and it was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We took some amazing photos and film footage to remember a superb week at La Rosita. I would definitely recommend La Rosita to anyone who would like to experience a true gaucho ranch!
Finally, may I thank you personally for taking the time to help me choose our riding holiday. Your advice was invaluable and went a long way to helping me decide which ranch would be the right one for us. Without doubt it was a week we will never forget!
SS (London)
Fantastic family, beautiful scenery and horses, and a really unique experience.

Argentine Adventure with Jakob
“It was a really, really good holiday - everything went well. Everything at Jakob’s is fantastic. Daisy is very brilliant too.” JD (Berwickshire)
“Everything as far as I can recall went exactly to plan and there were absolutely no issues with travel, timing and organisation, thank you very much indeed for all your work. I could write you pages, and can use all the usual superlatives but that will still not do it justice. I will just leave you with a remark I put in the visitors book “no one can truly claim that they have seen the world until they have ridden across Patagonia with Jakob von Plessen” We all had a ball.” IM (Northumberland)
“Highlights were the venue, the company, the organisation, the amazing horses, skilled horsemanship of the guides. An excellent group - good food, good wine - loads of fun. Riding in such a remote wilderness - camping in meadows high in the Andes - evening around camp fires. Don’t go if you don’t have a head for heights or suffer vertigo! Western saddle riding is quite different - maybe have some practise before you go. The ‘bathroom’ facilities when camping up in the mountains are basic but most horsey people understand that aspect! If you wear specs - take a second pair (fortunately I did!) I required a gluten free diet - they were brilliant - no problems at all”. JA (Devon)
“Loved the remote naturalness of the whole experience. Keep it simple - it was a very real, remarkable week”. CA (London)
“I have no need to fill in the questionnaire every aspect of my trip with Jakob fellow guests and staff was excellent from start to finish.
Feel free to pass on my email address any of the party. Look forward to another adventure with you guys soon.”
MD (Cumbria)
“I had a wonderful time, Jakob and Charlie were very professional and easy to get on with, brilliant hosts in my book! Too much to compliment on with this ride but mostly I cannot say enough about the team Jakob has working with him, I am horrible with names I would list them but I don't want to forget one, everyone was amazing. The crew in Patagonia, hands down best around! Thank you!”
LA (USA)
“Thank you for asking for feedback. I cannot say enough good things about my time in Argentina with Jakob. Everything was absolutely spot on and more amazing than I could have ever imagined! To say that this trip was "a trip of a lifetime" would be an understatement. I was fortunate to have the best group possible for the trip, each character perfectly placed, adding to the experience in a way that only they could. I have met people that will be my friends for a lifetime. The horses, accommodations and people with Jakob were amazing. I have so many unbelievable memories from both Patagonia and his Estancia I wouldn't even know where to being with sharing them”. LB (USA)
Argentina, Andesluna
“The whole trip was a highlight of our holiday from start to finish. The people, the places, Tammy & Dominik's lovely house, the food, the horses and the Border Collies. Manuel & Flora. Everything was just brilliant. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The visit to Manuel's family home, the fantastic gourmet meal we ate there and the hospitality they provided to us will always be a very special memory. And of course the giant Birthday cake we shared to celebrate Manuel's Birthday too. We visited the Lagoon on horseback but were also delighted to be able ride the horses up to the second, higher up lagoon. The stay at Tammy & Dominik's lovely, cosy home was special (particularly after the camping); we wanted to move in! The horsemanship of Tammy & Dominik was excellent - they really do care for their horses and their and your comfort. Let's not forget the Border Collies, SunSun, Lupiter, Linda, Winimini and the rest of the collies, cats and cockerels (and the pet sheep) They became our good friends too.” (CM Hexham)
“Patagonia was stunning. Fabulous views, excellent food. Lovely horses. Dominik and Tammy were excellent hosts and looked after us so well, both during the ride and in their lovely chalet style home. We felt so welcome. Flora their cook and Manuel the gaucho were also excellent company. I couldn't fault them and felt totally safe during the whole ride.” (SR Jersey)
Brazil
Highlights: Lovely roast pork (with crackling) at the lunchtime Fazenda with the English Country Garden;
Cheerful and helpful Gauchos on the ride. Horses are very much part of their culture and they have a very relaxed approach;
Excellent cooking by Guida and hosts. Social and welcoming hosts at Fazendas. Musical entertainment at Daniel’s Fazenda on the last evening; It was interesting to visit the tiny country school (3 pupils); Long views from green rolling hills.”
JL (Cheshire)
“The wide open spaces and rolling hills - perfect riding country! The friendliness of all the people we came into contact with and seeing and sharing for a time what’s probably a disappearing way of life.”
RT (London)
"I've been on numerous rides around the world. Many pamper you to the point that you are isolated from the culture. Not so w Paul's ride in Brazil. I felt I joined the culture when I mounted my sturdy little horse and rode w the gauchos and when I slept in the bunk houses and when I was entertained by the gauchos' music in the evening. The food very good and ample. the landscape stunning, the weather perfect, the horses hardy and fast and beautiful. Paul and the gauchos were attentive to our needs and our safety while allowing us a sort of unfettered freedom.
I could go. But the bottom line is the ride in Brazil was one of the highlights of my life".
JK (Seattle)
"The incredible (not found on any of our other multiple trips) freedom and horses while riding in gorgeous country empty of people, acres of beauty - the food !!!! - the friendliness of the fazendas / people – the super experienced and kind careful staff (read gauchos) - the music / dancing..
We adored this trip …special effort the cook and staff made to accommodate my gluten free / soy free diet (and another’s vegetarianism) was way over the top, meaning they did much more than necessary. It was very kind and much appreciated".
CK (USA)
"People? Landscape? Horses? Where do I start. The People, Paul was a charming leader, enthusiastic, slightly mischievous and knowledgeable, the Gauchos were a splendid team, wise Robiero, courteous and with a sense of direction that must run with the blood in his veins. Wild, crazy Mario, eager to please, always hoping one would reply OK! Rather than any awkward request for assistance, yet willing. Juan Carlos, the lawyer turned musician, flamboyant, perceptive accompanied by his two adored collies, Paulo, accordionist extraordiniare. The horses were lovely, I adore Criollos anyway, for their generosity and boldness. The little mare that I rode jumped ditches beautifully. And the landscape, so not what I expected, but grand, Arucaria trees, and flowers. A waterfall and pool discovered by Juan Carlos was a definite highlight, most of us cast discretion to the winds and plunged in in our underclothes to that soft water".
Mr & Mrs G (Glos)
"Some of my friends who prefer a holiday where they do nothing but lay on a beach all day often enquire if I return home exhausted after a riding holiday, having sometimes spent 8 hours a day in the saddle? And my answer is always: NEVER! I have only ever returned full of life, refreshed and energised, and my trip to Brazil was no exception. Despite discovering my flight was cancelled once I got to Heathrow, so arriving at the first Fazenda 12 hours late at 4.30am then being sat on a horse
by 10am the stresses of my journey melted in an instant as soon as we rode out. Arriving in the middle of the night I hadn't seen anything of the fascinating landscape so was observing the scenery in pure amazement- the space, tranquility, araucaria trees dotted on the rolling green hills for as far as the eye could see. The horses were amazing, so well behaved, incredibly easy to control and we all settled into the western style of riding quickly and easily. They were a wonderfully sociable herd - never was a bite, kick, or even a scowl exchanged between them.
The riding style was fun and free, no nose-to-tail lines here! On this trail you can choose to spread out, chat amongst your fellow riders, have a quiet moment just you and your horse contemplating the scenery, canter to catch up when you want, or help round up the loose horses.
Each fazenda we stayed at had a character different to the last and the hospitality we received at every stop was wonderful- from the warm welcomes and hugs to the delicious cooling Capirihas. The food was incredible, and plentiful - bbq'd meats, stews, salads, homemade cakes and breads - Gida's fresh-out-of-the-oven pão de queijo (cheese breads)washed down with a cold Brahma after a long day in the saddle was divine!
I honestly wouldn't change a thing.
Big thank yous to the whole team, for ensuring my smooth but late arrival, providing wonderful horses, hospitality, food and entertainment. This holiday is pure bliss- switch your mobile phone off, enjoy the view, revive your soul - you can't help but smile. I've met some fantastic people (and horses!) and have so many great memories I am still laughing."

Chile, Andes
"It was a fabulous holiday and I am proud to have been part of the outfit in the Andes. Absolutely no criticisms – it was my holiday of a lifetime... thanks to Nigel, especially, and my companions for encouragement: makes (one) me feel very proud, secretly, to have ridden so far and so high in the company of skilled horsemen. And if you will, please tell Theresa how much I enjoyed the kindness of her huasos... they all took care of us both."
DN
"This is the best riding holiday I’ve been on. Stunning scenery, fun riding and lots of free time as well. We were very well looked after"
JK
"It was absolutely fab! The scenery... the people... it really was a great trip and I loved every minute of it"

"Thanks for a great holiday. The trip was great for scenery, company and adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone"
AR
Chile, Southern Patagonia - Torres del Paine
“I don't think the questionnaire does justice to the overall experience I had during the 10 day Estancia ride from 19 - 28 Feb. Whilst the riding was hard, the days long and my back still hurts! any down side (although they’re hardly downsides) were well and truly compensated for by simply being in the Torres del Paine and all its magnificence, by the care and professionalism shown by Vicky, Armando and all Gauchos and drivers, by the camaraderie of the other riders, by the excellent ( and diverse) accommodation, by the abundant food - quality and choice - including the picnic lunches each day, expertly organised and laid out by Vicky (in the background) and Armando front and centre. Whilst I was the least experienced rider of the group, I did not once feel not included, which I greatly appreciated. Each day was a challenge re weather, landscape, getting to know your horse, etc., yet it was in the company of new found friends and the sheer joy of simply being in Patagonia and experiencing what I had only dreamed of, and worked towards. So, thank you everyone. From the outside (us the riders) everything appeared to go very smoothly - even when a whole day of riding had to be re-organized at the last minute due to flooded rivers - and such organisation comes from experience and local knowledge, so thank you. I was also very comfortable in talking to Armando re having a 'day off' if the planned ride wasn't one I particularly wanted to go on. Also I was very appreciative of having access to a vehicle for a short period of time (whilst the others cantered) and then re-joining the group for the rest of the day, completing the ride. Such flexibility was wonderfully appreciated. I achieved everything I set out to do, I knew my limits and what I was prepared to undertake to achieve my goals - and the service provided by Armando and RWW enabled me to do just that. I am very proud of what I accomplished and I cannot thank you enough. I wish you and all the team at RWW all the very best. Please say a great big thank you to Vicky and Armando for me.” JB (Australia)
“Fantastic holiday. Very, very professional. Armando excellent guide - smiled throughout! Lunches were delicious. It really was a wonderfully fantastic holiday. Well done another fantastic holiday.” BC (Oakham)
“I wanted to say that it was a FANTASTIC holiday! Really wonderful. We were looked after impeccably, everything was perfectly organised and all potential issues covered, including getting round erratic Patagonian weather! Vicky in Puerto Natales was amazing, our guide Armando was incredibly professional and all the horses we rode were reliable and did the job well. As I say, I will send over a more detailed review but wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it as a start!” MW (London)
What in your opinion were the highlights of the trip? “The space, the long canters, the numerous viewpoints, the wonderful lunch picnics, the crossing over from Serrano to Tercera Barranca, all very professional and well organised. It was an awesome time with a great group and a really knowledgeable guide. Also, Vicky is such a wonderful person and always there in the background to help.” CT (Switzerland)
“The scenery inside the park was the most beautiful I have seen and having now ridden in the area any alternative way of visiting it seems a waste. We are poring through your brochure for future holidays!” (FO, London)
"Thank you for the most incredible riding holiday in Patagonia.
The landscape couldn't be more stunning and we had fantastic so fully able to enjoy the sweeping views and majestic snow capped mountains. That was also due to the impeccable manners and agility of the horses who without fail were comfortable, beautifully trained and responsive and incredibly honest and sure footed which made photography and gazing at views on the move possible. They were a joy.
Vicky and her team including the guide Vincente could not have been more knowledgeable of the area or efficient or attentive and everything worked out absolutely as planned.
Absolutely fantastic - thank heavens I followed my last minute impulse and thank you all for swinging into action to make it happen".
EH (Oxfordshire)
“Patagonia was somewhere that I'd dreamt of visiting for many years but trekking has never really been my thing, so to find out that I could see it on horseback seemed like such a great opportunity. Yes, the itinerary was tough at times, but if we hadn't had long days in the saddle I don't think we would have been able to experience the extraordinary variety that the landscape has to offer. Riding across pampas, up and down mountains, through flower-filled meadows, and seemingly on another planet at times (Las Chinas) all in the space of one week was just remarkable. The accommodation was a lot more comfortable than I was expecting and the people were unfailingly welcoming and friendly, so thank you for all the planning and effort that had clearly gone into making all this happen. But for me, the difference between this being just an amazing sightseeing tour and an experience that will stay with me for a lifetime was our wonderful guide, Fernanda. The riding was always going to be a challenge for me as this was the first time that I'd attempted such a trip and the style of riding wasn't something that I'd tried before. At first it was quite intimidating that everyone else on the trip was clearly much more experienced than me, and at the end of the long second day I was struggling a bit. At that point, Fernanda couldn't have been kinder or given me more support, and restored my confidence to think that I could do this. For a couple of days after that, she spent time with me on the rides and gave me some coaching, and thanks to this it was such a wonderful feeling to feel my riding improving and my confidence growing as the trip went on. I will always be grateful to her for this kindness. Just to finish, I don't think I will ever forget the feeling I had when I got off my horse at the end of the last day and realised that I'd achieved my dream of seeing Patagonia (and with nothing worse than a few aches and pains to show for it!). For this, I have to say a massive thank you to Fernanda and also to you for organising such an incredible itinerary. I don't know if I will ever visit Patagonia again, but it will always stay with me".
RG (Herts)
Highlights of the trip: All outstanding but enjoyed the ride Rio Serrano to Lago Brush and then Balmaceda boat trip down Last Hope Sound and v comfortable night at Estancia Perales.
Anything we can do to improve this ride?: Not really - a lifetime event to savour for me.

“Many thanks for helping me organize my trip to Patagonia, a place that I have always wanted to visit since being a child. It certainly lived up to all my imaginings, as both the horses and the landscape were completely captivating. The photos I took in no way do justice to what I have seen! The trip was made even more memorable by the skilled logistical organization of the trip and the great attentiveness with which we were all treated by the staff.
Sabine was a delightful guide and interpreter and never seemed to tire of calling out to us to catch sight of interesting views, fossils, trees etc. Her patience and enthusiasm appeared limitless.
Panchi, our chef was quite simply a magician who could conjure great feasts in any conditions and over any sort of fire! Immaculately prepared, they would grace any restaurant table and were always finished off with fresh herbs!
The multi talented Alberto, drove us for miles, helped cook, rode with us and even taught us to dance Latin style on our final night. What a team!
The stars as ever were the horses who were so strong and fast and completely indefatigable.
Thanks you again for all your help”

"Our guides and driver were fantastic – helpful, kind, very approachable and accommodating. It was an absolutely brilliant experience despite some anxiety provoking moments on steep slopes and walking on very narrow paths!!"
JH (Suffolk)
"Just one of the most perfect rides. I love wilderness, freedom and remote places and this was all of that. Congrats to the team along with my thanks".
MC (London)
"Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. Although the wind was mentioned in pre-holiday literature this did not prepare us for its severity - but it added variety and interest to the riding!"
FS
"It was the most marvellous, inspiring holiday and lived up to our expectations and exceeded them"
JH
"The gauchos were friendly, fun and safe. Alec Quevado of Blue Green first class – humour, pratical and efficient – the company was varied and great fun, of all abilities – maybe some should have been a bit fitter to thoroughly enjoy the longer and faster rides! However no big mishaps – the scenery was stunning – a ride of a lifetime! For me anyway. With appreciation"
CR
"The only comment I could say is that the breakfasts could have been better. But holiday was FANTASTIC"
DK
"Recommend the kayaking 2 night trip to finish as a regular addition – great fun and a good change of perspective to end on. Alec and his team are gems – very professional and great fun. The Ride World Wide info was the most accurate of various agencies’ on this trip. Probably the best organised and most enjoyable holiday I’ve ever had"
HP
"This was the best holiday I have ever had. I was concerned before that it may disappoint as I had been so excited and looking forward to it – but it surpassed every hope or expectation I had had! Very lucky with the weather and a brilliant group of people who gelled from the first day. Can’t remember when I had so much fun and laughed so much. MANY THANKS"
JC
"It is a really super ride. We were so lucky with the weather, and our guide Jorge and the two gauchos Victor and Raymond were so cheerful and funny. The ride on the third day was lovely, but long for an old codger. Thank goodness it didn’t rain. My little horse was so well behaved. All the places we stayed in were so clean and comfortable and warm – and the food was lovely"
TC
"Although the clothing list mentioned the potential for cold winds, I’d emphasise it more. I needed to buy a scarf to protect against wind and ear – ache.. It was a fantastic holiday that I would recommend to anyone, although some of the steep descents and strong winds mean it isn’t suitable for nervous riders. All the gauchos and Jorge, our guide, were excellent – they couldn’t do enough for us. A highlight was an invite to Lian and Alec’s cabin at the Serrano River for dinner – they made us feel so welcome and it was the best meal of the trip. Thanks to everyone involved for one of my best holidays ever and some fantastic memories!"

"River crossings; Isla Bandurias; forests and majesty of the Andes…..Cannot praise Cathy highly enough for all she did to make this a holiday to remember. Thank you all for your assistance in arranging the ride to our wishes - you certainly gave us something to enjoy and talk about for a long time."

Ecuador
"A truly exceptional and a once in a lifetime experience riding in the most beautiful scenery with excellent horses and a guide, Sally, who has a horsemanship which is second to none. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is seeking a true adventure in a unique setting and an extremely welcoming country and group of people. The places we stayed at and the food we ate was just exceptional and Sally kept outdoing herself. My only wish is that it went on forever! Thank you Sally and your team!" XL (London)
"Sally is an exceptional guide and has nice horses and runs an excellent operation.......we definitely benefited from her extensive knowledge about horses and about Ecuador. She was really interesting,, so impressively hard working and good company. The horses were lovely, and it was a pleasure to see how much she valued them and the care that she took looking after them. What a star!"
CS (Hampshire)
“We had the most wonderful trip to Ecuador. It was a fantastic adventure and Sally and all her team were brilliant. The horses, landscape, food, itinerary, experiences, people and overall impact were amazing. We are very happy to rave about the experience to anyone thinking of going with Sally to Ecuador. Thank-you so much for helping to organise this brilliant experience.” SK (Buckinghamshire)
"What an experience that was! The Ecuador - Colonial Hacienda Ride June 2018.
Just to say a huge thank you to everyone at Ride Worldwide for organising yet another epic journey on horseback. Sally Vergette who takes the ride using her locally bred horses made for informative and interesting scenery mixed with encounters with local indigenous traditions and history. The horses were willing, sure footed and a dream to ride, plus the sheepskin saddle pads also made for days in the saddle something to look forward to! To me what also set the ride apart from others in South America was the select haciendas personally chosen by Sally. These provided havens of colonial past, stunning architecture, food to die for and in the Cotopaxi region breathtaking views with wall to wall windows in two of the stopover places. This ride was very special put it on your bucket list :-)"
CH (Hampshire)
“Ecuador was fabulous, great horses, I rode 3 in the different locations and all excellent. Accommodation probably the best I have had on riding trips. Sally is very professional”.
MW (Hampshire)
“I LOVED my horses. Annemieke and Capoli. I will really miss Capoli. He was so careful with me. Never a step out of place and SO willing. Annemieke is Sally’s previous guide horse and she has a lovely gate and was very good as well.”
JO (Netherlands)
“I enjoyed every bit of this ride; so it is difficult to pick out highlights, though nothing quite beats the euphoria that comes from cantering across spectacular highland terrain with Cotopaxi Volcano and its glaciers as a backdrop.. Sally is a wonderful, attentive guide with a deep knowledge of the landscape and culture of the sierra. The horses she uses are responsive and well-mannered and she makes every effort to accommodate the desires of clients when it comes to choosing mounts. The staff and the chagras who accompanied us were friendly and efficient and the haciendas we stayed in were very comfortable and often situated in spectacular settings”. RB (USA)
"The ride was great it's up there the biggest factor is that it's at altitude and 5 out of 9 of us were affected by the height the horses were excellent and fit I rode 6 different horses and they were well mannered and easy to ride . Sally went to great lengths to fit us with the right horse . Tack was great ideal for up and down mountains they are continually checked there were no failures it's important to sing out and make sure you are comfortable they have lots of options the Ecuadorean army saddles with sheepskins were very comfortable terrain requires a head for heights but horses sure footed. Chargras were great and fun night with guitars on last night in the mountains food good always had soup and desert meals were right size . Not the ride for alcoholics because wine is dear but local drink on last night was rocket fuel and made me dance the funky chicken . Sally a lovely lady but very busy great horse woman and so organised and accomodating . Nothing she would not do to help It's a great value I paid the weight excess premium and got value for money altitude means horses need resting I was well horsed ha and glad I could go it was fab "
SB (New Zealand)
‘We were very well informed about the whole thing. It was a really great trip - and particularly well thought out for 2 x 8 year old boys’.
LL (London)
"This (Volcano Ride) was one of the best rides I have ever done (have now done 25!!). Highly recommended to anyone fit enough to take it on.
Fantastic scenery seen from the backs of wonderful horses. Good to keep changing - I rode 6 !!
Sally’s knowledge of the country - politics, economics, geography, flora and fauna - is outstanding. It was great to get such detailed and interesting information. Xavier - guide for 2nd half of ride - is one of the most personable and pleasant young men I've met. He’s a real asset. A very well run organization".
KS (London)
"Quite the best horses I have ridden on a riding holiday - well schooled, responsive and forward going, a delight to ride. Sally was wonderful, charming, an excellent host".
PC (London)
"Sally Vergette was an excellent guide with exceptional knowledge of the history and culture of the area. She was quick to understand what interested us all. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and it was much better than I had imagined".
DS (Somerset)
"Sally, owner of Ride Andes and guide, was exceptional. Quite the best we’ve encountered. Ride was spot on".
RS (Somerset)
"Sadly we had wet weather and on the first day the roads were blocked, but Sally did a superb job re-routing and getting us on to the horses for a ride while we waited for the roads to be cleared. She looked after us all really well and was great company. A beautiful area to ride in".
ML (Somerset)
"An excellent holiday – our only comment (which I think Sally is taking on board anyway) is that there were a few parts of the ride when there was rather too much riding in built up areas – we understand that other riders have expressed more enthusiasm for urban areas than us. Otherwise a fantastic week – the open plains below Cotopaxi on the Thursday a particular delight. Also much enjoyed seeing the haciendas and the visits to La Compansia and their rose business and to San Agustin – also the weavers".
J&MB (Leicestershire)
"It was excellent! I would also like to congratulate Sally for arranging an excellent boat etc. in the Galapagos and for all her team and their helpfulness and flexibility in dealing with my hip problem. They couldn’t have done better!"
ES
"Sally is a very knowledgeable guide who always looks at riders (I saw her!!) She took into account my remarks about the horses I like to ride on the second day (thanks to the form I filled in before I left). She had read my meal preferences beforehand. She gave excellent advice on altitude..."
SM
"...The trip was not as remote as I expected. Very efficiently run, excellent transport, very informative, lovely accommodation, lots of variety, learned a lot about the country some spectacular views; particularly liked the gauchos leading the ride - felt more authentic"
AS
"...our guide, Roberto, was very informative about the country and its customs, with concern about our safety and comfort at all times. His good sense of humour made him enjoyable company and fun to ride with. The three haciendas were excellent, though I must say that La Merced was probably our favourite and it felt quite special to be welcomed by such a delightful family... throughout the holiday we enjoyed superb cooking, lovely fresh food an excellent service, all delivered with a stunning smile!"
LC & DL
"Sally is a very competent, hardworking professional guide who is also great fun. She loves her horses and with the help of an excellent back up team manages to provide fit, happy, well-schooled mounts. The rides are adventurous and exciting and the scenery stunning. We could not have enjoyed it more and thank you all at RWW for your excellent planning!"
G & CD
"It was absolutely fantastic. If your grading system went up to Excellent then I would have ticked all of the Excellent boxes. A fabulous holiday I cannot think of enough superlatives to describe it. The Haciendas were lovely, the horses fantastic – so beautifully schooled – responsive and forward going but relaxed. Pleasure to ride. Sally was a fantastic guide – I would love to ride with her again. Her horsemanship and knowledge of Ecuador made it such a memorable holiday. She made every effort to make every aspect of our trip a success and she succeeded!! I would recommend this holiday to everyone – a huge thank you to Sally and her team for such a lovely, lovely holiday."
HJ
"Sally and her staff were all excellent, friendly and very professional. I cannot fault the whole trip and will remember it for a long time to come. Kate at RWW was also wonderful and thanks to her suggestion to go to the Napo Wildlife Centre I did something which I wouldn’t have thought of doing and again that was a fantastic addition to my holiday. Thank you very much"

Uruguay
‘’A truly wonderful week. I will definitely become a regular customer. The highlights for me were the huge expanses of open grasslands and stunning beaches. Such as sense of space. Our guided Letitia was also first class - she was very responsible, kind and considerate. A great rider and our enjoyment and contentment with horses etc was always her top priority.’’
JB
‘’The whole team out there were fabulous. Very attentive and very helpful in managing my lost luggage during the early part of the trip. Leticia was an exceptional guide and generated a great atmosphere. The gauchos were also a good team. Overall a fantastic holiday!’’
LH
“I absolutely loved it. The horses were fresh, very willing, very happy, healthy and well cared for. Our guide, Letitia, did way more than anyone could have expected. She was an absolute delight, with the patience of a saint – always a smile on her face and extremely hospitable. I cannot praise Letitia enough. She is very well informed about the country itself and it obviously well liked by all of the people we came in contact with. Fabian, the bus driver, should also be commended. He too, worked tirelessly. The accommodation and food was fantastic, as were the gauchos. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they worked very hard indeed and kept a weather eye on all of us and the horses all the time. Fernando, the last gaucho to take us out, chased and caught an Armadillo for me because he knew that I hadn’t seen one! ….. I can’t wait to go back. Thank you for recommending this ride.
JH (Australia)
"…this was a stunning holiday – carefully and subtly planned through amazing varied and beautiful scenery. Mauro, our guide, was quite excellent, the estancias were a very special experience, particularly El Sauce, where we stayed with the family and enjoyed their wonderful hospitality and some fast gallops across the estate as well as having fun rounding up cattle and then separating the black from the brown! The riding on the beaches was magically memorable".
PC (London)
"First experience with Ride World Wide, excellent rating. I normally travel with … and I must say that in the future I shall consult your catalogue before booking a new trail".
FP (Switzerland)
"Other people in the group were not as much into fast galloping as FP and I ….but our guide, Mauro, made arrangements so that we could gallop ahead with the gaucho and do a few fast ones".
JB (France)
"I LOVED Uruguay - everything about it - I thought Sally and our guide, Rosa, were both wonderful. I have to tell you that I am not at all happy being back in England now, it seems such a dismally gaucho-free zone. Life is so very much the poorer without glimpses of their amazing belts, boots, hats and their absolutely virtuoso riding...."
KK (London)
"I thoroughly enjoyed this trip, it was better in many ways than I had imagined. The scenery, trips and people were wonderful. Having never been outside Europe before I found the whole thing a real adventure".
JW (Hertfordshire)
"We had a brilliant experience and hope to return to SA in the future. A big thank you to Sally, Rosa, Alexis and Fabien who made the riding very enjoyable. We were able to do as much or as little as we wanted on particular rides and even though there were two less able riders this did not hinder our enjoyment – ie canters and gallops - as Alexis and Rosa were very flexible whilst maintaining safety of riders".
AN (E. Sussex)
".. El Charabon is a beautiful place to stay but lacked the ‘family’ feel of El Sauce. I could have stayed there another week at least. The horses are excellent but they are working horses and very forward. I loved. Less confident riders had more steady horses but it’s not a ride for novice riders. Lots of fast canters and some gallops!!"
DF (Berkshire)
"I thoroughly enjoyed the ride in its present format. There is a good variety of terrain, landscape horses, activities, accommodation etc and no two days were the same. Special mention - my luggage was delayed by 4 days but Sally was wonderful at sorting it out and lending me clothes. Also the vegetarian food was generally excellent considering what a meat eating country it is..."
SM
"I cannot praise Sally highly enough. The arrangements for the trip must have taken months of hard work but the end result appeared effortless. She was so informative about the places, people and wildlife with an infectious enthusiasm which was so refreshing. I cannot wait to ride with her again. Thank you so much for all the help from Ride World Wide."
JW
"Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of riding and country and people and guides – would recommend Uruguay holiday to others"
SW and AH
"All the information provided by RWW was excellent – from the recommended clothing to take through to the description of the ride. It is one of the best holidays I have been on. Sally is unique – friendly professional and ensured that everyone has a great time. Many thanks"
PD
"Fantastic trip – very diverse locations. All of the staff were wonderful and the accommodation was great. I would highly recommend it. Uruguay was an unexpected treasure – very unspoilt, remote with friendly people"

Peru
"Peru was amazing. We loved every minute of it. Eddy and Maria were fantastic hosts. The food was delicious and plentiful. The horses were very well schooled and great to ride. We were lucky in that we had a good group, all competent riders and great company".
FC (Kenya)
“This was an absolutely superb ride - my 26th and supposedly my last (due to old age and decrepitude - but I said that last year as well!) but most certainly one of the very best. I have already recommended it to a number of people.
The Peruvian Paso horses were amazing. Incredibly comfortable to ride and perfectly mannered due to brilliant training by Eddy and his team.
Everything was well organised, the tack was in good condition and the standard of guiding was of the highest standard.
Food and accommodation were first rate. Maria's cooking, both at the ranch and on the trail, was amazing. Eddy and Maria are generous and considerate hosts, both with a great sense of humour and genuine concern for their guests.
The scenery was spectacular, and there was a good mix between riding and sightseeing time.
In all, I think the ride was faultless!”
KS (London)
“This holiday was absolutely amazing. Eduard and Maria and their team were absolutely fabulous, so incredibly well organized. The horses clearly were very well looked after, they were Eduard’s passion and it showed by the care he took of them. His team were wonderful and took great care of us. Maria’s cooking was fabulous - how she produced the wonderful meals at camp was incredible. This was a holiday my daughter and I will never forget - now saving up for Eduard’s Peruvian Odyssey ! Such a caring team - Maria had all the remedies to overcome altitude effects. I cannot speak more highly of them - roll on the next one. This is definitely not a ride for the novice ! Eduard’s tuition of the paso yano (sic) was very good - once cracked it was so smooth”
SW (Hants)
"hell yeah, i can't recomend eduardo enough!"
LW (Hants)
"I thought it (the ride) was excellent in all respects. Eduard and Maria were attentive to all aspects of our welfare and enjoyment, as were their staff members. One person in the group felt that she needed a little ‘time out’ time between riding, sightseeing and the evening meal, to relax, but I’m not sure how this could easily have been fitted in. I appreciated being taken to see local places (eg a pottery, a weaving exhibition) as well as riding".
JS (Sheffield)
"This is our 12th riding trip and the horses were the best we have ever had and Eddie explained everything superbly. Maria was delightful. Peru was fascinating, although Machu Picchu was very commercial. Accommodation was superb".
LW&JG (Buckinghamshire)
"The ride was very well organized. Eddie is an excellent guide and took great care of us and made sure we fully understood where the tracks could be difficult….He matched us very well with the horses and we all loved our own... I have never been hugged so much in my life - they certainly are very friendly people and I am still glowing with delight from the whole trip!"
TC
"Eddie is extremely horse / country / outfit proud and he takes extreme care with everything. Very thoughtful and always putting safety first... the land we rode over was fabulous and the local people endlessly smiley and hospitable…your advice about clothing was really welcome. Some days I wore 4 jumpers on getting up and then pealed off as the day progressed ...it went too fast, I had a great time!"
SL
"It was sensational and as [we] went to Manu as well, we felt that our extended trip covering jungle, Cusco, riding and Machu Pichu was ideal."
CM
"The Manu trip and riding with Eduard all went off without a hitch and it was so much better than we could have ever expected. The riding was spectacular and the horses very well trained. Even though it was the first ride of the season, the horses were fit and ready for the challenge. All the staff, without exception, were first rate. Food, although being too much at times, was very good. It was a good idea to go to Manu first to get somewhat used to the altitude as some people flew right in for the ride and had some trouble adjusting. I told Eddie that I can sometimes be a bit nervous on a new horse, but he would not let me get by with that! He said I rode much better than I thought and he put me on a stallion. One of the best trained horses, so willing and yet listened to what I wanted. What a wonderful vacation. We are already checking out some of the other rides for the future. Thank you so much again for all your work in arranging most of the travel plans"
C&AG
"Words can’t really do it justice. Galapagos part was great. Everything about the riding was brilliant although Hotel la Casonas was not as good as the others... The rainforest was fantastic when we got there."
CS
"Excellent ride, Eduard was a very good host – extremely safety conscious"
HT
"I would like to say how much I enjoyed the holiday. Eduard and Maria made our stay so welcome, they treated us very well and made sure that everyone was happy all the time. The staff …all respected them and they all worked as a team to make sure we had a good holiday. There were other people on the trip who went with different companies and of all the descriptions of the holiday, RWW was the most accurate... It will be a job for me not to go back – I still keep thinking about it"
SW
"A great experience – what super horses! It was a priviledge to ride them, and to be lead and supported so well. Eddie, Maria and their team worked very hard to give us an unforgettable experience. They were unfailingly generous with help, food and encouragement, and the horses were so comfortable, footsure and amiable that even really challenging trails were covered with ease (and no aches or pains…) Loved it!"

Colombia
'I'm just back from an utterly magical, life affirming riding holiday at Rancho Saman in Colombia.
I've ridden on most continents and had many riding adventures over the years but this was definitely the best.
The horses are exceptional. They live as a herd in pastures surrounding the lovely home-base hacienda and are fit, happy, enthusiastic and beautifully trained. Tack is locally crafted and comfortable Western with some adaptation to give close contact and the horses respond to Western and English-style aides.
Marc Noonan the owner is English and has made Colombia his home following a 'Long Ride' in South America several years ago. He has an eerie ablity to suit rider to horse and our group of five was incredibly happy with our mounts. Days are long but well paced and there are always fast canters. The terrain is very varied with cloud forest, jungle tracks, sandy paths across open country, small villages and very little tarmac. Most days the majority of the ride is completed before the hottest part of the day around 3/4pm (This is only 500 miles from the Equator and I had been anxious about the heat but the humidity makes it pleasant; I have been much more bothered by heat riding in Greece.) Accomodation is carefully picked and of very high standard with hammocks, pools and lots of character. Marc's love of his adopted Colombia shines through and this holiday is a wonderful introduction to a stunningly beautiful and welcoming country where the horse is part of the culture. (The neighbouring town of Cartago has the best shop for riders ever.. a saddlery combined with a bar...made to measure chaps
available!) The thermal pools at Santa Rosa were a wonderful treat after a long day, especially with a margarita afterwards. The birds are astonishing and a non riding twitcher partner would be in heaven!"
JT (UK)
My trip was fantastic. Hard to better it.
I haven't been back to Colombia in 30 years and was concerned my memory of the country and its people was a romantic rose tinted one.
But the trip confirmed all that I felt all those years ago. The country is unparalleled in its beauty and the people in their warmth and generosity.
Marc Noonan is the perfect host and guide. Rancho Sáman is a paradise.
What particularly stands out is his love of the country and its people.
But also the love of his horses. Those horses are loved and they know it. I couldn't have been happier with the responsiveness and character of mine - Manchado.
The food all along the way was exceptional. The range of accommodation impressive, varied and always comfortable. I always felt in a network of people and places that Marc has worked hard to cultivate. And wherever we went they loved him and we were made to feel like special guests.
I'll be recommending the trip to many people.
PH (UK)
Highlights: "The beauty of the country, the different climate changes, the friendliness of all the staff and everyone we met.
Additional Comments: "I loved this ride, but its arduous, and people should be informed of the altitude, the steepness and the speed of the ride. It is not for the timid or unfit rider".

USA, Wyoming - The Bitterroot Ranch
"The whole holiday was brilliant - I was especially impressed with the care and treatment of the horses and the whole timetable of each day which ran like clockwork. An amazing place. I wanted to go somewhere where there was ‘nothing’ and it exceeded my expectations. I would certainly recommend it – and your company – to anyone. Thank you".
HG (Devon)
"Thank you for pointing us in the right direction. As they say in America, it was ‘awesome’. It fulfilled all our dreams".
JA (Devon)
"Wonderful place, even better than described. Husband, daughter & granddaughters had a wonderful time, although I personally fell off the first day and broke my hand. However, I managed one ride (with broken hand) and was well looked after by Mel & Bayard at the ranch and by our travel insurance. We want to return next year … probably early August when camping trip is available for daughter and granddaughters".
MB (Vale of Glamorgan)
"The riding is sedate so may not suit everyone although fine for me. Breathtaking scenery is best enjoyed at a sedate pace! Horses beautifully mannered and cared for. Mel and Bayard are wonderful characters .. passionate about conservation"
KS (Devon)
"The whole holiday was excellent in every aspect – one of the best I have been on. Superb food, horses and accommodation, very friendly and helpful staff. I would certainly recommend it to anyone as all levels of ability were well catered for and there was no pressure to do anything you were not comfortable with. Just emphasise how cold it can get at night – the weather can swing form below freezing to 80F in one day!"
AB (Devon)
"It is a very special place. The condition of the 170 plus horses superb and overall setting ambiance and environment majestic. We never thought we would find somewhere commercial that would take care of their horses (and guests) as we do at home. We had arranged an 8 day tour of Wyoming before we arrived (the right way round) and together with the fabulous time at Bitterroot it made the best holiday we have ever had. Many thanks to you all and all at Bitterroot – a very special place!''
A&JK (Northumberland)
"In general it was an excellent holiday and I have nothing but praise for all the staff at Bitterroot who were friendly helpful and available to help. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone who loves riding"
MJ (Hertfordshire)
"Had a wonderful week – very friendly people - from owners Bayard, Mel and Richard – through all wranglers to cabin staff. Made sure to put us on rides with the same standard of riders and alternated horses and took note of our favourites. Slightly apprehensive when I arrived to find I was the only person on their own amongst all families but as soon as children were safely catered for, the parents and children went their own ways and adults rode/socialised together. I would highly recommend this holiday for a lovely riding experience in spectacular countryside with a very friendly bunch of people and lovely, forward going, sure-footed horses."
GH (Middlesex)
"An excellent holiday, ticked all the boxes. Very professional staff, horses well trained, food exceptional. Well looked after!"
IS (Northumberland)
"...we all had a fantastic holiday – even better than last year. Those who went on the pack trip really enjoyed it and those who fished with Bayard, particularly on the Indian Reservation, had a great time too. All the wranglers were friendly and professional... The food was delicious and we all came back heavier. Another wonderful holiday – thank you"

"This was a simply fantastic holiday! It exceeded our expectations on several counts:
The food was extraordinarily good and all freshly cooked; the set up was refreshingly uncommercial. We felt like guests rather than ‘clients’ and were not bombarded with glossy brochures etc.; the cabin accommodation was very cosy and comfortable; the place was full of animals, including the horses, all of which were clearly much-loved and well taken care of. I don’t think we ever heard any one raise their voice at an animal during our stay. Very unusual in such a big yard. We all want to go back! .So, many thanks for your help in organising this trip. I would have no hesitation in recommending either Ride World Wide or [The Bitterroot] to anyone interested in this type of holiday"

“The gorgeous scenery and cantering and trotting on beautiful trails through the red canyons were the highlights of the trip. Really everything was pretty much perfect.” MW (Florida)
“Too many highlights to list…. but a couple included the all-day cattle drive, watching 130 horses being called in first thing and just all of us riding together in amazing scenery on lovely horses. We could not have had a better holiday!”
